Pickett Mountain Mining

This installation is a combination of a claw machine and a pinball machine. Rather than a claw, the player maneuvers a leaky ladle. The object of the game is to move the metal solution from the ‘mountain’ to the ‘smartphone’ without spilling it on the terrarium map. You can open and close the ladle to aid in the mining and manufacturing process, however, it can never fully close, making polluting the natural environment unavoidable. The 6.5-degree tilt in the field allows the water in the ‘terrarium’ to pump, as well as the resetting of the game (the “smartphone” beaker would have a false bottom).

A pH meter in the mountain pond would alert the players as to how acidic the environment is becoming. The live moss that would be planted within the ‘terrarium’ sides would also struggle to survive.
